National Men's Grooming Day is observed annually on the third Friday of August. Generally, people assume women pay a lot more attention to their grooming routine, but many men are interested in taking care of themselves and looking nice on a daily basis. On an important occasion, like his wedding day, the bride and groom both want to make sure that he looks his very best.
Our online wedding store carries some wonderful items to encourage a regular grooming routine for men. These also make excellent gifts for the groomsmen in your wedding.
If the groom doesn't already have a regular grooming routine in place, it's a good idea for him to begin one well before the wedding day. Try to get the best man and groomsmen on board too so that all of the gentlemen in your wedding photos will look their most fresh and handsome.
Begin a Face-Washing Routine
We don't just mean soap and water in the shower. Using a facial cleanser and possibly even an exfoliant on your face will lend to a better complexion and healthy skin. Be sure to start using new products a few weeks before the wedding day so that there is time to switch to something else if they irritate the skin.
Drink More Water
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day isn't just good for your insides, but your outsides too. Making sure that you get plenty of water in your system will result in healthier skin.
Beard Maintenance
If you have a beard, keep it trimmed regularly up until the wedding day to get it into great shape. For men that prefer a bit of stubble, pay attention to how many days after shaving it takes to get to your favorite look. That way you will know exactly when you need to shave before the wedding day. It is recommended to use a fresh razor about every 5 shaves to prevent skin irritation.
Pluck & Trim
Make sure that unruly eyebrows are cleaned up and in shape long before the wedding. Don't overpluck, and if you're worried that you might, let a professional take care of it the first time. Use a trimmer on other areas where you need hair removal, such as the nose and ears.
Settle on a Hairstyle
Depending on how fast your hair grows, you should plan to get your final haircut about a month before the wedding. That will give you time for a trim the week before the wedding if you need one. Do any experimentation with new styles long before the big day so there is time for it to grow out if you don't like it.
Get a "MAN"-icure
Mani-pedis aren't' just for women. After all, it is called a "man"-icure! Even if it's just for this one special occasion, it will make your skin smooth and soft, plus clean up those nails for the close-up ring photographs. Most likely no one will see your toenails at the wedding, but a pedicure feels great and the bride will probably appreciate it.
Consider Teeth Whitening
There will be lots and lots of photos taken on the wedding day. If your teeth aren't their whitest, consider starting a teeth-whitening routine long enough before the wedding to give it time to work.
Once the tasks above become a routine while you are planning a wedding, it's very likely that they will still be a healthy habit long after your special day too. The better you look, the better you feel about yourself, and the happier you will be!
