7 Creative Ways to Add More Fun to Your Wedding

There are lots of things that your guests will expect to see when they attend your wedding, but it can be a lot more fun and memorable for everyone if you add in a few surprises. When you let yourself get creative while you are planning a wedding, it will make the entire experience not only more enjoyable but also more personalized. Today WhereBridesGo.com has a few ideas you may want to try.

Pop the Champagne Early

Who says you have to wait until after the "I do's" to get the celebration started? Have some cocktails ready for your guests to take to their seats and enjoy during the ceremony. You could even switch things up and host the cocktail hour first, then the ceremony, immediately followed by the reception. This works especially well if you'll be doing a first look and getting all of your wedding photos out of the way before the ceremony.

Plan the Unexpected

Surprise all of your wedding guests by planning something a little out-of-the-ordinary that they won't be expecting. This will make some pretty incredible memories for everyone there. Choreograph your walk down the aisle or your grand entrance into the reception, or break out into song at some point. You could also show up wearing funny accessories along with your wedding party like colorful sunglasses or other goofy props to give everyone a laugh.

Jazz Up the Programs

Wedding programs are great for letting your guests know the schedule for the day and also for introducing them to your wedding party. Make them not only informative to read, but entertaining too. Come up with wording that's a bit sassy and start out with something like "A Guide To Surviving Our Special Day" or "So you're spending the day at John and Jane's wedding. Here are a few things you really need to know..." If you don't think you're creative enough to pull this off, ask someone from your wedding party for help or search some suggestions online. It's okay to borrow ideas, as long as they're entertaining!

Entertain the Youngest Guests

Children don't always find the same things fun that grownups do, so if you are inviting kids to your wedding, consider providing some entertainment especially for them. Their parents will greatly appreciate the fact that the kids are occupied so that they can enjoy some grownup fun along with you. It can be as simple as having a table off to the side of the room with some coloring books and games on it, or you can go all out and hire someone to "babysit" the kids and keep them busy.

Personalize the Cake Topper

Wedding cakes get a lot of attention at a wedding reception. There are many different types of wedding cake tops that you can adorn yours with, but it can be extra special if the bride and groom on top look like the two of you. WhereBridesGo.com has an excellent selection of bride and groom cake tops that allow you to customize the hair color to better resemble you and your spouse. There are also many hobbies, occupations, and other things you may be known for represented by many of our cake tops.

Offer Snack Breaks

If you are planning the type of wedding that lasts all day and night long, plus includes lots of activities for you and your guests to enjoy, everyone is going to need plenty of food available to keep their energy up. In addition to cocktail hour appetizers and dinner, offer a snack break during the reception. It could be a dessert table with a variety of goodies, a popcorn or nacho bar, pizzas delivered, or anything that you enjoy snacking on when you get the munchies. You might even want to give away to-go snacks at the end of the evening for favors that guests can enjoy on the ride home.

Get Comfy

You're going to have a lot more fun at your own wedding if you are comfortable in what you are wearing. Some shoes look gorgeous but aren't really made to wear for long periods of time, especially if a lot of that time is spent on your feet. Have a second pair to slip on to give your tootsies a break and allow you to get down on the dance floor. You might even consider a wardrobe change at some point during the reception and slip into a second gorgeous gown that is a little bit easier to party in.

Hopefully those 7 ideas will get your own creative juices flowing to help you come up with even more fun ideas that you and your guests will get a kick out of on your wedding day. You can also find inspiration by browsing all of the wonderful things in our online wedding accessory store. If it looks fun to you, there's a good chance it will be lots of fun for your guests too.
